David Jackson ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Mighty Ink mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Account Information: Email address and password when you create an account.
Family Information: Family name and invite codes used to create or join family groups.
Photos: Images you upload to create character avatars. These photos are processed by AI to generate illustrated versions of the characters.
Character Details: Names, ages, and heights of characters you create.
Voice Recordings: Audio recordings you voluntarily provide for voice cloning.
Story Preferences: Age ranges, story themes, illustration styles, and custom prompts you select when creating stories.

1.2 Information Generated by the App

AI-Generated Content: Stories, illustrations, and character avatars created by artificial intelligence based on your inputs.
Cloned Voices: Synthetic voice models created from your audio recordings.

1.3 Information Collected Automatically

Session Data: We use session cookies to keep you logged in and manage your authentication state.
Device Information: Basic device and platform information transmitted by the app for compatibility purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the App's services:

3. Third-Party Services

We share certain data with third-party service providers to deliver the App's features:

OpenAI: Character photos (processed as image data), character descriptions, and story preferences are sent to OpenAI's API to generate stories, character avatars, and illustrations. OpenAI processes this data according to their Privacy Policy.
ElevenLabs: Story text is sent to ElevenLabs for text-to-speech narration. Audio recordings are sent for voice cloning. ElevenLabs processes this data according to their Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Children's Privacy

The App is designed to be used by parents and guardians to create content for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction).

Photos of children uploaded by parents or guardians are used solely for the purpose of generating illustrated character avatars within the App. We encourage parents to supervise their children's interactions with the App at all times.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us at jacksoninaction@gmail.com and we will promptly delete such information.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on our servers.
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.
Photos and generated images are stored as base64-encoded data in the database.
Session data is managed server-side with secure, HTTP-only cookies.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active.
Stories and Characters: Retained until you delete them or delete your account.
Voice Clones: Retained until you remove them or delete your account.
Photos: Original photos are processed to generate avatars; the processed avatar images are stored as part of your character data.

When you delete a story, character, or your account, the associated data is permanently removed from our database.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
Objection: Object to certain processing of your data.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

The App uses:

Session Cookies: Essential cookies to maintain your login session. These expire after 30 days of inactivity.
Local Caching: The App caches story illustrations and character avatars on your device for faster loading. This cached data remains on your device and is cleared when you log out or delete stories.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our servers and third-party service providers are located. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
